Adrian, that's not the point. That's not how torrent-network works. Every torrrent dowloader joins the peer-to-peer torrent network as a leacher and at least for a short time becomes a seeder. Any potential torrent downloader which for what ever reason is not joining this network is also not helping to keep the network alive. And if the minimum "critcal" number of seeders is not available, you have a kind of collaps - nobody is using it - something what Richard might just is oberserving.

That is a good point Fehlix. Time will tell whether the ReCaptcha is a sufficient deterrent. We can easily monitor the downloads. At present we have no desirable alternative.

I agree, fehlix. The antiX torrents are starved for seeds. In the morning, for the antixlinux site, I will turn off the recaptchas and move the link to the torrent page up 'above the fold' to see if that gets more actual participants without bots.

Well, they could always put them on archive.org and use their torrents until they get so popular they get restricted, too. Though they still work anyhow if you provide the torrent file instead of a direct link to the archive.org copy. Archive.org always seeds them.

I've turned off the recaptchas for antixlinux...we will see if that makes a difference in making it easier for new users.

Right now there are not that many download requests and therefore not many seeds. We'll see what it looks like tomorrow.

I've had a few, Aussies - who like us are in daylight - and a couple of Europeans who must be burning the midnight oil, but it is generally quiet.
