I use it because I like it. Need there be another reason?

... Yes, mostly the ̶u̶n̶a̶n̶i̶m̶e̶̶ "unanimously adopted" reason (Chrome is not in the MX repository) ;-)Eadwine Rose wrote: Sat Jan 05, 2019 2:03 pm I use it because I like it. Need there be another reason?

Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?
Thanks for the idea, interesting news scrolling app
Of apps not already pre-installed I really like of top of my head:
- Speedcrunch (best and fastest calculator evar ;-) )
- Cherrytree (note taking)
- KeePassXC (password manager)
- Calibre (ebook manager & reader...)
- Ksnip (screenshot & edit/annotation)
- Flameshot (screenshot & edit/annotation)
- Shutter (same as above just trying it and like it has some cool options)
Btw, few weeks ago someone asked similar question, and I think this thread from Manjaro forum is treasure trove and well worth going through if someone is looking for Linux apps ideas. (warning, you may spend more time that you first intended to ;-) )

1. What does it mean, "unanime?"
2. Chrome available through the MX Package Installer or by manually adding the google-chrome repository which is easy. I'm not a fan, but it's not a surprise.

I wager unanimous. Which its use is not by the way.

... Ah sorry, "unanime" is in french, means similar/analogous... "unanimously adopted"
@figueroa
Thanks, I will try it then.2. Chrome available through the MX Package Installer or by manually adding the google-chrome repository which is easy. I'm not a fan, but it's not a surprise.

I actually prefer using the unbranded root to Google Chrome- chromium. It's more secure and works almost identically (at least in the way I use it).

Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?
Thank you for the info. , I also use sometimes Chromium and Firefox instead Palemoon (or Midori) ... So if Chrome is very similar to Chromium, I will continue to use only Chromium.manyroads wrote: Sat Jan 05, 2019 3:12 pm I actually prefer using the unbranded root to Google Chrome- chromium. Seamonkey, Chromium (for a single web site that argues with Seamonkey), LibreOffice, Xournal, USB formatter and image writer, a little bit of VLC, Synaptic, and rarely, the terminal.

Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?
It's a total myth that Linux is for hackers and developers.
I see Dolphin uses QT-Creator, but other than that, no one's mentioned Atom, Netbeans, Kdevelop, Eclipse, PyCharm, Wing, or the other heavy-duty IDEs. No test benches, either. No website dev environments.
Nobody spends all day in Nmap, Aircrack, Wireshark, Unicornscan, WOL-E, Dumpzilla, WiFi Honey, joomscan, sqlmap, etc. Nope. Nothing like Hollywood depicts Linux users.
Daily -- Same as everyone else, plus:
ffmpeg
Rosegarden
ZeroBrane Studio (Lua IDE)
VMWare Workstation
Photomatix (HDR photo production)
Plex
Stellarium
