Well that works kinda weird but thanks for letting me know that it doesnt do what the rest of them do by default. Weird though. I do not like this little rinky dink volume control in panel. I like the ones that open the little menu not just a little tiny slider.It works the same as on MX-17. You can turn all the functions on or off, but the 'Edit Profile' checkbox function may not be doing what you expect. It doesn't remove the 'Mugshot' icon, it toggles the ability to edit profile information by clicking that icon.
It's something that puzzled me when I first came across it

There is a separate xfce pulseaudio applet for the panel that you can add to said panel. The fancy version of the applet used to be in Test Repo, but it may have since been moved to Stable Repo. Check Test Repo first.freefreeno wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 4:18 am... I do not like this little rinky dink volume control in panel. You had, but updates done in the last few hours included MX Welcome, and it now shows the MX 17 title. To be sure, I just updated 3 other machines, and they all went from 18 to 17.dolphin_oracle wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 6:18 amReally? I thought I fixed that. The new version is in the dev repo. Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
I just updated, welcome was not in today's pkgs. History shows last update 3 days ago (18.11). The problem is not only the word "Horizon," it's just the wrong one altogether (no FAQs, etc.).

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
On a machine that was updated this morning via MX-Updater, I double-checked it was updated by apt dist-upgrade; there was nothing to upgrade. The version number of mx-welcome is 18.11.dolphin_oracle wrote: Thu Dec 06, 2018 7:31 amcan you give me the version number on the mx-welcome? Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
I have found a work-around for this and am posting in case any of it is helpful. This pertains only to installing on an external hard drive or partition on an internal hard drive and has most likely already been resolved...
Currently running the 18 beta1 on a T60p ThinkPad, T420 ThinkPad, and external USB 320gb Hard Drive. It seems to run flawlessly so far. Had a problem with Grub though -
Grub did not want to install to external USB HD. "Ok to install Grub bootloader at ?" - then failed. Just a question mark - no sda#. Same on a partition on internal HD. Able to boot on the internal drive because MX17.1 is the controlling grub. Could not boot from the ext USB HD - even after several tries at re-installing bootloader from MX17 USB flashdrive snapshot and original MX18 USB install media. [Hope all this is complete and makes sense]
Ran live USB install media:
Installed updates-then MX Tools-reinstall grub [to the ext HD that is missing grub]-no longer is there a question mark-tried loading grub to MBR [which I never select on Ext HD...] and then root [2 separate attempts]
-reboot each - same result:
black screen with:
GNU GRUB version2.02[tilde]beta3-5+deb9u1
Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.
grub>
=================
Have no idea what all the output means after tabbing:
"extract_entries_configfile extract..............."
====================
Made a snapshot on the fully configured installed partition - same ThinkPad T60p and installed on same external HD - no grub problem at all.
Installed T60p Snapshot on T420 ThinkPad partition. Went to MX17 partition with controlling Grub after install to configure. Have 4 partitions with antiX and 2 others with MX. MX18 partiton could not be found, until I viewed the "Removed items", and there it was.
Also, the default conky is somewhat scrambled.
Aside from Grub, I would not know it was beta. It is excellent, as usual.
