Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
Those are all part of the downloaded mscorefonts, the are not part of the debian system. Problay we need top look for a fixed version.Adrian wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 1:42 pmAlso Greek the first entry, it's something that shows in Xfce Settings -> Appearance -> Fonts -> Arialentropyfoe wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 10:46 am Looks like Czech.

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
You can currently install the compatible Virtual Box 5.2.22 on the beta from the test repo, but we're moving it to main to eliminate the problem with MXPI.

possible. could be a build problem too.fehlix wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:02 pmThose are all part of the downloaded mscorefonts, the are not part of the debian system. but we also updated libfontconfig and libfreetype, which could also be related.
Is there a font cache rebuild function, and if so, does that clear up the problem?

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
Probably the same problem as the Wine staging installs (teamviewer uses its own Wine), which is probably due to that wanting to install some i386 Mesa libraries with the dev repo disabled, so they aren't available.dolphin_oracle wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 11:31 amthanks we will check that out.Fornhamfred wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 11:17 am Trying to install Teamviewer with mxpi gave the following output:Code: Select all

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
Could having no swap partition but only / be the reason sleep mode not working for me?
Have decent SSD with 8Gs of RAM.

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
I don't think so, hibernation needs swap, sleep uses RAM.danielson wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 8:09 pm Could having no swap partition but only / be the reason sleep mode not working for me?

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback
Yes,Teamviewer 12 installs and runs fine in "MX18_x64 Continuum March 14 2018"-upgraded from MX17.1 with having dev-repo enabled.Stevo wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:20 pmProbably the same problem as the Wine staging installs (teamviewer uses its own Wine), which is probably due to that wanting to install some i386 Mesa libraries with the dev repo disabled, so they aren't available.

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback-now working perfectly
Excellent ! After a fresh reboot uses 449M of memory. Samba working automatically OTB.
I had the crash at idle again, so the boot code is needed.
I added manually to /etc/default/grub, the line rcu_nocbs=0-11
This completely stabilized my MX 17, so I am sure this will work again. [wish those kernel gurus would fix that]
Update-grub as root.
Reboot, looks good.
Now for nvidia-
I added the mx18 dev repo to synapic manually, once I figured out no space between MX and 18 !
Reload repos.
Use the MXPI nvidia installer. The only tricky part is which version to pick?
1. main 390.87-2-bpo9+1MX17+2 or
2. debian-backports 390.87-2-bpo9+1
I chose 1, as they seem the same, except one says MX17.
Rebooted, and voila, correct nvidia driver is loaded, and the nvidia card runs 5 degrees cooler !
Should I keep that MX18 dev repo enabled?
All that remains is the stability test, and based on past experience with the Ryzen, if this machine is still running tomorrow morning, stability is there, this time tomorrow, confirmed.
So this is pretty much equal to the MX 17.1 as far as functionality once stability is confirmed. Again, looks great, excellent beta quality, with some help from the experts
[adrian, d_o, Richb, Stevo....] here, fixing the installer grub to root, describing how to get the nvidia, and add the grub line with no grub customizer - this is close to a keeper, certainly I will use as a daily driver, do more testing, until the next beta or RC.
