No cutesy names that do not imply function, please.
I vote for these, because they are neat and intuitive and all that. Also very translatable. (Some of the subtle wordplays, while it works in English, make me headdesk as a translator.Eadwine Rose wrote:Serious suggestions:
System Installer
OS Installer
Calamares is a distribution-independent installer framework.
It provides a graphical installer that can be used with nearly any distribution. This package is suitable for live media on Debian-based systems, and won't be of any particular use on and already installed system.
You will likely want to provide your own config files to match your distribution, reading the Calamares documentation will guide you through that process.
+1 If I understand well nothing will change for a new user. He will look for an icon named "installer" and that's all.anticapitalista wrote:The user will see an icon on the desktop labelled Installer or MX installer or antiX installer. That is not going to change.
(I very much doubt anyone will install the installer on a live/installed system so it doesn't matter what the package/app is called)
Renaming the application, as I see it, is an attempt to encourage other linux devs to use our installer (if they wish) and even more importantly, contribute to adding features that are missing.
