About translation of Japanese translation

#1 Post by fu-sen »

I'm sorry. I need to stop translation work.
I was pointed out a violation of the Launchpad regulation by using Web translation in Ubuntu translation:

https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubunt ... 07309.html

Translation of MX Linux (and antiX) uses Transfiex, so it is not directly affected.
But Japanese translation will not be modified until a new translator appears.

I'm sorry... I will continue to support with things other than translation in the future.

I didn't read the long thread all the way through, but what I saw appears to be a question of Ubuntu policy. So I do not really understand how it affects your translating for MX Linux.

But it's your decision, so much thanks for your past work.

"I second that emotion."

Thank you for all your translations, and if you wish to contribute again in the future you will be very welcome. I hope that you continue to use and enjoy MX.

Hi there,

FIY:
Mr. fu-sen admitted his translation works is based on machine-translation services such as Google Translation on ubuntu-translators ML.
It means his translation works mostly suspected to have license violation.
AFAIK Japanese translators of Ubuntu and Linux Mint decided to revert his translation works.

Please get the correct information. (Especially original text) Your description is somewhat erroneous.

Hi there,

Mr. fu-sen sent 2 messages to ubuntu-translators ML when he was temporarily unsubscribed the ML.
So they are in pending status, not in archive now.
They quoted by Mr. Fumihito YOSHIDA (direct recipient) in https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubunt ... 07356.html

in quoted message [1], Mr. fu-sen wrote:
My translation work is this procedure (In case of complete untranslated):

1. Translate with multiple web translations. The result is many
different sentences.
He clearly admitted his translation works are based on machine-translation services.
Moreover, the Mr. Fumihito YOSHIDA's message proves Japanese translators of Ubuntu decided to revert Mr. fu-sen's translation works.

About Japanese translators of Linux Mint decided to revert, see linuxmint-jp-devel ML thread (written in Japanese):
http://linuxmint-jp.net/pipermail/linux ... 00538.html

I'm reverting fu-sen's translations.

because two reasons for reverting:
1) His translation works cause license violation (talked by ne-yo)
2) His translations are messy, that included many mistakes and unreadable Japanese.

e.g)
- antixcckeyboard.pot: "British" -> "イギリス語" (means: British language, probably English, not GB keymap)
- iso-snapshot: "Used space on /home" -> "/home の空き容量" (means: Free space on /home)
- antixccmouse.sh.pot: "Change mouse motion" -> "マウスポジションの変更" (means: Change mouse position)
and more...

Japanese Linux people can search/read easy English if not translated. but they are can't even arrival this forum from search engine if messy translation.

Japanese translations for MX Linux had not reviewed by anyone (at least Japanese people). I think we *MUST* need reviewing/discarding his translations in any case.

If MX Linux team think his translations don't cause License violation, I'm prepared recover and review his translations.
(but I believe that discarding and re-translating are faster than reviewing his translations...)
