MX-15 Users Manual -- Final

#1 Post by Jerry3904 »

We have completed the final version of the Users Manual, making corrections, updating images and adding new content that has come up over the 2 weeks since release.

The html version is up (20160107), and you can see it using the tab at the top (refresh the page if necessary). That will come through for local installation in a couple of days, and the PDF will be posted by then as well.

Feel free to make corrections/suggestions in this thread, but understand that we do not intend to work on this again until March at the earliest.

A mention of lscpu alongside inxi -f might help slowpokes like me catch on to what sort of processor they have and thus, if 64-bit is an option? (2.1.1)

Fantastic work, looks slick as you scroll through images and pages :number1:

What's neat is to think of all the Community involvement:

--people posting good problems
--people solving problems, even the hard ones
--people taking screen captures (there are a lot!)
--people editing well
--people working on the Wiki articles
--people sending me "Manual fodder" at 3am
--people helping with all the formatting

That's why the citation reads:
MX Linux Community Documentation Project. 2015. Users Manual for MX Linux.

It is also neat that someone pays attention to all this.

I was just doing that when I got notified of this posting. It is easier to write your notes on a hard copy than on a pdf.

Well done to all involved.

Is there an 'easy' way for people to contribute translated versions? I know we have a Russian translation of MX-14 manual. Wouldn't it be great if we could get the manual translated into other languages we support. I know it is a very time-consuming task, but I think we should set a goal to get the manual translated into as many languages as we can.

Linux Mint for example has all these.

I am sorry, but I am not going to translate that huge amount of text AND keep up with it as it gets edited. I simply don't have the time nor the desire; it is just too much work. The average Dutch person has a very good grasp of the English language, so that language will do fine for them.
