[This is part of my general call for development help. We have filled a three positions, which is terrific, and there are a couple more possibilities in the works.]
During a development phase, it is critical that bugs be discovered and handled. The only way to do that is to get the software on a large number of machines with all their different configurations. For that, we need people who are willing to spend some time carefully trying (or trying to break!) the new stuff: Official MX Testers.
For example, we will probably turn in the next couple of months to another point release of MX-14. The Dev Team will do the initial testing of betas/release candidates, and then those will be turned to a larger group of Testers before being made available to the Community at large. These people will install the software, as a LiveUSB, in VirtualBox or on a hard drive (best), then go through it from hardware compatibility to function, appearance, documentation, etc.
Requirements: a reasonable knowledge of installation procedures, time and interest, and a good sense of responsibility. Rewards: a sense of satisfaction, a virtual beer and of course our eternal gratitude.
If interested, let us know!
