I just tried it, and without a reason I did not have an edit time. When I put a reason in the edit time showed immediately. Although It was on old post.bigboppercole wrote:Are your sure about that? Take a look at this post: http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/viewtop ... 24#p256024 I had changed "your" to "you", didn't add a reason, but it had been a while after posting that I noticed the spelling error and corrected it. I wonder if Adrian isn't on to something: http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/viewtop ... 46#p255946richb wrote:I found that you have to put a reason for the edit for the time to show. If you do not, it will not show. Good feature, actually. If you are doing spelling or syntax edits, no reason to show "last edited by" and time.bigboppercole wrote:OK, here's something else. I just noticed after editing my last post, that it doesn't show a "last edited" time. Is there a way to implement this? I have found it useful in the past. It's not hugely important, but a nicety. Maybe add it to the wishlist?
Or maybe I'm just not seeing it,... again;).

New edit post test. an edit
EDIT: An edit with a reason. Worked the same on a new post. 3 total edits, first time without a reason - no time. Second time with a reason, edit time shoes, third time with no reason edit time updated. It looks like once a reason is submitted the counter and time will update.

Re: New Forum Comments
Where are you adding a reason? I just went back to a couple of my posts from this thread, went into edit mode, but couldn't find a place to add a reason for editing. I'm also not seeing a reason stated on your post.richb wrote:New edit post test. an edit

added: The posts are http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/viewtop ... 57#p255957 and http://forum.mepiscommunity.org/viewtop ... 46#p255946. The first one I just entered the edit function, and hit submit, didn't actually edit anything. The second one I just added a blank line. Both now show "last edited..."
added2: I added the above within a couple minutes, and I don't see a "last edited..", and I'm still not seeing a place to add a reason for editing.
added3: Now I'm seeing the reason on your post. I may have just missed it earlier.
added4: testing

Nope, I don't have that line. Must be a Moderator feature.

Re: New Forum Comments
And now, an hour later, I edited my last post for the 4th time, and it shows "last edited...", but it shows that it has only been edited 1 time.

I will look at that. You should all have it.bigboppercole wrote:Nope, I don't have that line. Must be a Moderator feature.

Re: New Forum Comments
I think admin edits if they don't submit reason don't show. For regular users I think there's a grace period (on other PHP3 forums I've noticed that "edited by..." appears only after the grace period or if somebody posted after your post).
Re: New Forum Comments
I think this will explain it. You are right the reason box is a mod feature only. Sometimes difficult to answer questions when you have different features than users.richb wrote:I will look at that. This from the phpBBB website.
It will only be marked as edited when there was already a reply on the original post, or when a moderator/admin edit the post and give a reason for the edit.

Re: New Forum Comments
Now that's a good feature. You can pop back in and correct a typo without having to show that it's been edited, but after another post or a longer time it will show.Adrian wrote:I think admin edits if they don't submit reason don't show.
