MX Package Installer - uninstall issue

#1 Post by CharlesV »

A week or so ago I noticed that if I checked more than one box in MX Package Installer ( v 25.6.01) the Uninstall button goes grey.

I thought it was the package I was attempting to uninstall. But today I have found it again on a different package and started investigating.

Regardless if the second package is related or not as soon as I check the second package the uninstall button is grey.

Example: check the installed package(s)
- cairo-doc-mail-plug-in
- cairo-dock-logout-plug-in

another example:
- evince
- evince-common
-gir1.2-evince-3.0

As soon as the second package is checked, Uninstall button is grey.

I can see this across multiple packages of completely different packages... But in attempting to remove a package and its own additional packages ?

Re: MX Package Installer - uninstall issue

#2 Post by siamhie »

I can replicate this issue in MXPI also. When selecting one program, the uninstall button is available.
When I select a second program, the uninstall button will grey out.

This is my Fluxbox . There are many others like it, but this one is mine. My Fluxbox is my best friend. It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my Fluxbox is useless. Without my Fluxbox, I am useless.

Re: MX Package Installer - uninstall issue

I'll just third this. :)

As soon as you select the second package clicking uninstall is no longer possible.

Re: MX Package Installer - uninstall issue

#4 Post by j2mcgreg »

I think that MXPI prioritises installs over uninstalls. Probably in the same vein as in mathematics where multiplication and division have precedence over adding and subtracting.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Re: MX Package Installer - uninstall issue  [Solved]

#5 Post by Adrian »

No, it was a bug in one "checkinstalled" function that was not processing the list of packages well. The fix will show up shortly in the repos.
