ssh-conduit fs mounts to wrong local destination

#1 Post by m_pav »

When mounting a remote folder located on my my ManCave PC to my Laptop, ssh-conduit used to mount the remote folder into ~/Mancave but for some unknown reason, it has changed to creating a mount point onto my Desktop instead of using the previously used ~/ManCave mount point it used to mount the remote directory to.

Furthermore, when I go to select a mount point to disconnect, it sees the Desktop mount point but fails to disconnect it.

I can't seem to find a config that allows me to change the default local mountpoint and I have to use Thunar to umount the remote folder, which requires that I stop the FS umounter in the notification area, else I will have multiples of it loaded each time I remount the remote folder.

Anybody have experience with this type of thing where they've found a solution?

Both machines have an almost identical software load from the same Live-USB that I update from time to time.

its been a while, but I think profiles are stored under .config/ssh-conduit.

Re: ssh-conduit fs mounts to wrong local destination  [Solved]

#3 Post by m_pav »

Thanks DO. That's where I've been looking and I couldn't find any particular setting for when a local folder is not specified. The help file for FS Connection states the following;

Code: Select all

  Local Folder
  The mount point name in this local system where the remote folder and files are shown.
  It must be unique. It is automatically created as a folder in the local home directory
  Spaces are allowed when the value is enclosed in quotes
OK, I've found the issue. The "local" directory is set from the point of program execution, not from the users homedir as it says in the help text.

I placed a launcher on my Desktop because I've been doing some testing on my laptop and going in and out of the remote folder quite a bit over the last 2 days. When I launch ssh-conduit from the Desktop launcher, the ~/Desktop folder becomes the default homedir location for the mount point to be used, whether a type 1 (manual) or type 2, (select a profile). When I umounted the remote folder, quit the Notification area icon and launched ssh-conduit from the Whisker menu, the remote folder is mounted as it states in the help text, in the root of my homedir.

As a test, I placed a launcher for ssh-conduit in my Downloads directory and sure enough, the ManCave folder was created and mounted therein.

All in all, it's a little odd, but good to know.
