Difference between MX Linux KDE and XFCE (ahs) .iso

#1 Post by RafeeDaBoy »

From the MX Linux Website,
MX-23.5_x64 “ahs”, an “Advanced Hardware Support” release for very recent hardware, with 6.6 kernel and newer graphics drivers and firmware. 64 bit only. For newer hardware.

MX-23.5_x64 KDE, with the 6.1 kernel and ahs repos enabled.
So, with the XFCE version you get a newer kernel and newer GPU drivers (ddm-mx takes care of that). I am curious about what newer "firmware" means and after an update is it all just the same (except the kernel, it gets updates for 6.1). Thanks!

GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070

Distro: MX-23.5_x64 KDE

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

Also, ddm-mx will also install Nvidia drivers on standard MX 23 and 21, but not everyone is going to be using proprietary Nvidia video drivers.
