Installation freezes switches to terminal mode  [Solved]

#1 Post by Jefferson »

Hi Folks,
Fairly new at this so please bear with me. I am trying to install MX 23.6 from DVD to a new computer.
The installation goes up to the last dot and stops. I have looked at the log file and after logging in I go to a command line program. As I am new to Linux I would really need the GUI. Any help would be appreciated.

Make and model of the computer please.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

My computer is AI by power element. SE gaming PC the only information I can find on it. I bought it at Best Buy. I'll try to see if I can find more from their website of mx 23.6 screen Ud EV done so it goes up to 6 dots with the seventh standing see boo process is the only thing or return here. So I go to that. And live restore services restoring service links. Welcome to Amex Linux 23.6, already 4 bit powered by Debbie, for command line, install a log in his route, enter the command CLI and stash install or follow instructions with a cursor on MX1 login, I've logged in as root used root as password it brings me to a command line type program.

Yes that is my computer.
I was trying to dictate using my cell so the first message is not that understandable.
In a nutshell here is the problem.
Burn and verify the ISO file to a dvd.
Boot the DVD and see the welcome screen.
I choose verify DVD and get no errors. Then open the Linux program.
The program seems to be working fine until it finishes the UDEV done message.
At this point the boot stops and I can only use the Alt F1-see Boot Process.
I see a command prompt waiting for input reading "For command prompt log in as root, enter command cli-installer. New prompt=mx1 login.
I don't know what this is asking me to do or why this is not booting the MX program from the boot drive.
I hope this is a better explanation of the problem and we can get results soon.
Thanks for all you help with this problem as I don't know where to go next.

Are you trying to dual boot with Windows 11 or do you want to replace Windows 11 with MX?
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

I will need to do a dual boot into Windows 11 or m.X Linux as Windows 11 is the only working o.S that I have now. I have read that the installation g.U.I is the only way to set up a dual boot system.Any idea how⅔ I can get there

Then you should read and follow this guide to dual booting created by one of our members @FullScale4Me:
https://fullscale4me.com/Dual-Boot-MX-L ... -Guide.pdf
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram

I have read the guide but can follow very little of it. I am sick that this is not working.
I have installed MX many times and never saw a problem where I can't even get the live disk to boot to mx.
Please if any other help can be offered It would be most welcome.

Simply put, MX will not install on systems where Secure Boot is active. Also on Windows 11 machines, BitLocker must be removed and Fast Start Up mus be turned off.
You have stated that you can't follow FullScale4me's guide, so your only option is going to be to remove Windows 11 from the computer and install MX in its place.
You need to learn how to install MX from a USB drive because DVDs are prone to errors when the ISO is written to the media
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
