Convert from dhcp to static ip address

#1 Post by shellback »

I'm running mx-23 on a live usb and I want to convert to a static ip address instead of dhcp. I followed a
lot of suggestions from web searches but nothing worked.

Any ideas how to go about doing this?

If your using xfce, then as follows: (I believe it is slightly different in KDE)

- MX Network Manger (or Advanced network Configuration)
- Choose the connection method your wanting to change (eth0 or wlan0 most likely)
- Edit ( or click on the little gear icon)
- Go to the ipv4 tab
__ Change the drop down to Manual and then click Add
__ Put in your machine Ip address that you want, the subnet mask you want and then your gateway IP.
__ Add your DNS servers ( you should have at least two, separated by comma(s)
- Click save

and you should be good to go.

*MXPI = MX Package Installer
