I need some tech advice on a couple items I noticed in Session and Startup  [Solved]

I need some tech advice on a couple items I noticed in Session and Startup

Hi, I hope everyone is well. I may have slight problem but I need to know if this is a threat or not. It may be something benign and just the titles of the items description may be making me a bit paranoid. Ok so in the Session and Startup menu I noticed two items that I have never seen before. One is titled: Tracker File System Miner and the other is: Tracker Metadata Extractor. I'll include a screenshot and my QSI as well for good measure. Also, I'm still running MX 21.3 Xfce 64 bit. Thanks!

Unless it is using high cpu or ram, I believe you are just fine. Tracker Miners is the indexer and search engine that powers desktop search for core GNOME components.

On mine too. MX-21.3 Xfce

And I do NOT know what to use, so simply FYI liquorix kernels are up to 6.6.11-1-liquorix now, but many in-the-know use older ones - like CharlesV.

I think the 6.5.9 and 6.6.9 kernels work perfectly for me. I only hang back a bit so that I dont lose functionality on VBox or some other thing that hasnt caught up yet. Being 'out in front' of kernels are updates / patches has never proven to me to be that advantageous. (I dont want to be TOO far behind - but I am NOT a 'bleeding edge' guy ... been there.. done that... and have the scars to prove it ;-/ )

Ok thanks so much for clarifying that! Also, should I upgrade to a more recent liquorix kernel than the one I have? The only reason I use it is because on this particular laptop, I've always had sound issues with the default kernel. The liquorix kernel somehow magically fixes it lol

Your very welcome. As for the kernel ... I dont really see a reason to update if your happy with it. I have not heard of any specific thing wrong with it... the newer kernels add more devices and some fixes for sure, but ...

Personally, I found the 6.4.15 kernel to be one of the best I have run. (both HP laptop AND my main rig (GIgabyte mobo ) ...

I do like the 6.6.8 I am on with my new HP Laptop, but for my big machine I am VERY happy with the 6.5.9 too.
