JStock request
JStock is a stock market portfolio tool and has long been available for Windows and is now also available for Linux. Could this application be ported to MX please?

Re: JStock request
JStock is a java app and up until a few days ago has been running great on my MX. It currently runs, but never gets off 0's on the main page.linexer2016 wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 7:20 am JStock is a stock market portfolio tool and has long been available for Windows and is now also available for Linux. From discussion on their github issues page It appears they have an update for Android that works but not for the desktop version.
However there have been no commits in git since 2023, and emails to the developer have gone unanswered so I'm not sure I would trust that APK anyway...

Not sure what you mean never gets off 0's on the main page? Perhaps you mean like I've discovered in Windows where I've used the program for several years that with an update (I don't know if it was the Java or Windows update that wrecked it) the portfolio and prices refuse to update. The main web page (see my link) still suggests the product is available. A bit of a blow really because again for several years it worked (under Windows) very well indeed.

I think that's fair enough (not trusting the APK when the Windows version now seems to have hit a wall). The Linux version I tried to build from their Linux download seems like Charles has reported, to not work properly now that's why I asked if it could be ported when the issue might have been solvable - not by me :)
Anyway, looks like I will have to resort/revert to spreadsheet use which may in fact be more reliable going forward.

Some might say that the zeros accurately reflect the current state of the US stock market, but I never would say that.
MXPI = MX Package Installer
QSI = Quick System Info from menu
The MX Test repository is mostly backports; not the same as Debian testing

@linexer2016 Ya, all of the amounts on my stocks went to 0 when I fired it up a few days ago ( i dont run it every day - too depressing.) But, yes it looks like it is back to yahoo and a spreadsheet for me too ;-/ ( or once stocks start going back up! and I am excited about them again ... I may just look into some type of API / APK to get numbers myself! )linexer2016 wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 6:52 amHello Tim,timkb4cq wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 12:21 pm From discussion on their github issues page It appears they have an update for Android that works but not for the desktop version.

Re: JStock request
Charles, if you do indeed come up with some kind of API to pull the numbers from Yahoo etc, I'd appreciate it if you could post it to the forum as I'd like such a tool. I've tried Spreadsheet native abilities with varying degrees of success when trying to get price data.CharlesV wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 12:53 pm@linexer2016 Ya, all of the amounts on my stocks went to 0 when I fired it up a few days ago ( i dont run it every day - too depressing.)
