sry im noob -bear with me- :frown:
Correct, the gpg signing error is no longer a problem. You are also correct that there is no antix 4.9.212 kernel in the stretch repo.

@anyon if u dont have time dont read blow
extra question : does antiX work better on (pentium 4 3.2 ghz) than MX 18.3 if let's say i use the same excat desktop environement and all options and themes are the same ?
note : i tried to install xfce on antix 17.4.1 64bit with antix package installer but it looked weird so i switched to MX cuz antiX is not rly newbie friendly
i am asking this to know if it's worth to go install same version of DE that mx has on antiX manually cuz in pentium pc 1 gb ram every little thing can matter ang give better preformance / experience
Welcome to MX and antiX @Touhami-Dz ,

As a matter of forum etiquette it is frowned upon when we interject off-topic questions inside of our topic that we started. You will not get the responses you want if you don't start a separate topic. But we all do this once in awhile and that is why we need reminders to stay on topic. (If you haven't already done so, you should start a new topic with these questions about the Pentium 4)

This happens to be one of my favorite topics (using antiX/MX/Linux on old 32-bit computers) so I will give you a quick answer here in this topic thread. In my opinion, you either need to change your thinking about using a "Desktop Environment" or increase your RAM to at least 2GB. If you stay with 1GB I would suggest you either switch to antiX or, if you want to stay with MX, use the "Fluxbox" version of MX. MX-21 Fluxbox would be a good choice but MX-18 also has the Fluxbox environment. But it is easier to install MX-21-Fluxbox.

I am writing this now using MX-21-Fluxbox on a Pentium 4 2.4Ghz with 1.5GB of RAM. I am using the Otter-Browser. I find this to be a "fair" experience with only a slight lag when moving around the desktop. The ram used with only Otter-Browser and the MX forum in HTOP is about 600MB. I find Firefox to be unbearable on this machine. I think Firefox is no longer suitable for 32-bit machines.

Best of luck as you look for the best Linux for your machine. (Hint: probably not a "Desktop Environment" like XFCE, but probably a "Window Manager" environment like is used in antix and MX Fluxbox)

seems that the mx package installer is just not working so far but Synapse is working great i installed some kernels with it (4.9.0-276) and it was really easy , i dont know how to install the kernel when i download them (tar files) alone if somone have a good video for that will be nice
i had a weird synapse experience it was rly easy and smooth but after i installed some kernels now when i search for exemple linux-image-4.9 i cant see any results other than the kernel i installed (is this intended ?)
im i the only one who have MXPI probleme ?
and thank you
@seaken64 check PM i will be happy to have some linux friends that share same passion

there is a typo in the antiX kernel scripts. the naming convention for kernels changed at some point and I missed it. its been a long time since I last updated this package. thanks for the report.

you can try installing the deb file in the linked tarball. if it works out, I'll update the package in the repo.

the typo does not affect the debian 4.9 kernels entries.

i didnt mark the thread as solved cuz i wanted to extra check , i did a fresh raw and new install and the MX Package Installer worked i installed the antiX 4.9 kernel without synaptic just MI
the only thing i had to do was to uncheck this one and install manually :

after that everything seems to work fine now i need to find a way to install virtualbox guest tools
Thank u to devs and community again for all the work , keep it up <3
