Wired connection troubles with Liquorix 6.13.* series

#1 Post by sps7 »

I use an ethernet cable wired connection from my desktop tower computer to the modem. Everything was always working fine with my connection when I used the 6.12.* series of liquorix kernels but as soon as this kernel went to the 6.13.* series, my wired connection would instantly become erratic, sometime connected for a few seconds and then broken-- back and forth like this which was intolerable. I went back to my present 6.12.17-1-liquorix-amd64 kernel and all is well again with my wired connection.

Has anyone else noticed this breaking of a wired Internet connection when using liquorix 6.13.* series?

Could I have some system problem or be missing some package that would otherwise make the liquorix 6.13.* series work well for me with no breakage in my wired Internet connection?

I have rolled back from 6.13 as it acted up pretty badly on two of my machines. ( I was on 6.13.7 and then .8 )

We have seen a few people have trouble with 6.13, so I think you did perfect rolling back to 6.12

It's not all that surprising, unfortunately. The Liquorix 6.13.xxx is proving to be problematic.
Your legacy install on a UEFI system will also introduce instability. The CSM module is an emulator built into UEFI specifically to allow users to roll back to Windows 7. It was never intended for use by Linux or another OS.

HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

j2mcgreg, so I'll just have to be careful with or see what happens with new kernels then since I have a UEFI system. Correct? I suppose there's nothing I can do about this. Right?

Is the CSM module removable or not?

I would rewrite the ISO to a USB drive but this time specify GPT partitioning and then reinstall.
