The launcher in the panel is now working.
It's unclear what broke and why, nor what actually fixed it, but it's working now ...
Hopefully, something in this thread is useful to others.

Re: Updates Broke Ghostery Security Browser
This morning trying to get to any youtube channel would bring up a blank page, turned off "block ads" in Ghostery solved the problem. I guess there was an overnight Ghostery update that causes the issue.

I usually keep all updates set to manual vs automatic - so, I didn't notice an update-triggered problem.mw1649 wrote: Sun Oct 29, 2023 6:39 am This morning trying to get to any youtube channel would bring up a blank page, turned off "block ads" in Ghostery solved the problem. EDIT: Ghostery is up to date. Facebook now won't allow me to log in (via the browser) if either FBCleaner or Stop AutoLoad are engaged. Sigh.
NOTE: I did observe that Ghostery has dropped it's own Search engine and now defaults to the Brave search engine.
I was just reading about this and, since Ghostery is the largest user of memory - by far - I'm wondering if I can force it to use Swap vs Ram?
