wifi quit after update [Solved]

Removed the following packages:
linux-firmware

Installed the following packages:
firmware-iwlwifi (20221109-4~mx21+1)
firmware-misc-nonfree (20221109-4~mx21+1)

I had lost Internet as well by installing firmware-misc-nonfree to prevent the 
update-initramfs from complaining about missing firmware over and over.
So to make long story short, I booted the live-usb and download linux firmware
so I could connect to Internet and did 

Installed the following packages:
firmware-iwlwifi (20221109-4~mx21+1)
firmware-misc-nonfree (20221109-4~mx21+1)
not sure if that is your problem though.
Just winging it out there.

Restarting the router/cable box fixed the problem. I don't know why exactly. I did, however, learn a few things from this thread, so I hope this thread is not perceived as a waste of time, it wasn't for me... Thanks all...

Usually the reason that works is that your ISP has assigned your router a new IP address and restarting the router puts it into effect.

i am glad you got it to work - i know it is frustrating. i think i mentioned that earlier. basic stuff but sometimes it works.
