Re: M12 11.9.92
I tried the swapon, but the cut command generated an error message. On the M11 installation on the PC I usually need to use LXDE in order to get the best performance. Based on this and the recommended RAM for M12 it may be best for me to use antiX. Thanks for the help.

Re: M12 11.9.92
The flash drive is 4GB. I tried running sgfxi again with the same results. It starts installing the driver and after a while it says that it is out of memory and starts to unload a lot of different processes.

Re: M12 11.9.92
I've been trying your suggestions, including the Unetbootin options. After trying a lot of different video cheatcodes and removing the splash, the screen is still staying blank. I tried to run sgfxi and it ran out of memory before finishing.

Re: M12 11.9.92
Thanks I'll give pastebinit a try. Is there any particular boot selection that would give the maximum diagnostic value? I can also include a log file from a MEPIS 11 installation that is currently running OK on the same PC. The MEPIS 11 install is running the nvidia driver.

Re: M12 11.9.92
So far no joy. Is there any combination of cheatcodes that can aid in doing a diagnostic as to why X11 is failing to establish a valid GUI screen? I tried doing startx from a text mode console. It produces a log file in /var/log. If this log file has diagnostic value, is there any way that this log ...

Re: M12 11.9.92
I tried the aufs setting and the live version didn't want to boot. Replacing the widescreen monitor with an old CRT monitor didn't do any good. I'm not sure where I go from here. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Re: M12 11.9.92
Thanks for the replies. I tried using the nouveau.modeset=0 nomodeset cheatcodes by selecting the safe mode selection and editing the part after the fromhd to read only the two suggested cheatcodes. The monitor displays a square box saying Input Not Supported. After a little while the blank screen ...
