Re: Windows is overwriting my Linux EFI Bootloader. [Solved]

Hello. I don't post much--mostly because I do not use MX very much. I do, however have MX 23.4 installed and operational on both my Dell laptop (Running Windows 10), and my desktop (Homegrown Asus MB, Samsung SSD, & AMD CPU) (Running Windows 11 24H2).
I have, for at least the last 10 years. dual ...

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

I have figured it out.
My first post was #86. There were a few responses that were either unhelpful, or beyond my abilities to comprehend.
In post #91, I was told to reread a response. I read it repeatedly--I did not understand.
In post #97, DO told me in plain terms what I needed to do, and even ...

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

Thank you DO.
I shall investigate that tomorrow.

I really do appreciate your knowledge, skills, and your willingness to suffer with hand holding those of us who continue to ask what may seem to be trivial or (essentially) stupid questions.

Thank you again, & good nite.

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

OK. I think that I have the jist of it now. The basic answer appears to be "You must verify who you are whenever you want to do something, nearly every time".
In the words of the old country song, "I don't like it, but I guess things happen that way".
Thanks for the responses.
Since I do not desire ...

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

Below are 2 screenshots of the polkit-1 folders from my install of 21.3 and 23 RC2.
The top shot is from RC2
There is no "localauthority" folder in the RC2 install.
"Show hidden files" is checked in both installs.
I experienced this same situation in the Alpha, and both Betas.
What am I doing wrong ...

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

Greetings all.

I realize that the devs are very active trying to stamp out bugs and get MX23 ready for prime time. That being said, in MX21 there were a couple of folders in the etc folder (/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50local.d) where a file could be created that would allow bypassing the password ...

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

YAHOOOOO!!!!
OK, I know I should not shout; however, I'm pumped.
Fehlix, your instructions worked perfectly, and I completed them on the first try.
I have spent several hours on this installation.
No way could I have ever come up with that solution.
Thank You so much,
Jerry

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

Response to #19.
I am not trying to be nasty, just ignorant.
I have absolutely no idea what "code tags" are. After copying that huge mass of "stuff", I went forward and posted it hoping for the best.
Please educate me and I will do my best to comply.

Re: MX-23 RC2 (Xfce) feedback thread

This is the follow on to post #16.
To prevent asking, I do not install Grub on a new Linux install. I leave it on the 21.3 install, and update it there--it has worked for me in this manner for the last 2-3 version installs.
I do not know if my method is correct.
Anyway, Here is the requested log ...
