Re: start in airplane mode
#! /bin/bash # shutting down network connection nmcli dev disconnect wlan0 nmcli radio wifi off nmcli networking off # turn off all radios including bluetooth rfkill block all exit That's some paranoia right there. You want disconnect, shut off the radio, kill networking totally and block all radios ...

Re: OpenSHH, cannot start
Thanks for your response. The ssh issue is not so important for me-- other issues (screwed up return from suspend, for instance-- are much more annoying. I did find a way around that one, too, but it is surprising and annoying to have a fresh installation of a highly regarded OS, and then trick it ...

Re: OpenSHH, cannot start
Going from memory here, I believe you need to start the daemon, sshd on the server side. It will listen for connection requests.

Re: guest in virtualbox not starting
One problem is that you've added an Ubuntu PPA: Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/softmaker.list 1: deb http://shop.softmaker.com/repo/apt wheezy non-free Kindly read How To Break Your System and Don't Break Debian, both linked to in my signature. That's not a PPA. When you install their ...

Re: Docks
This is from Launchpad but anything running XFCE will have it.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/plank/+bug/1427224
I believe it's because the dock is actually running in a window that you can't see and the compositor puts shadows around windows. Conky has a similar issue if not set up right.

Re: File manager and desktop customization
You can create a Launcher on the "PANEL" that opens your preferred file manager to a folder that contains links to all your favourite programs/applications. You need to create the folder and create the links. Both very easy to do. It sounds to me like your doing more resisting than learning. You ...

Re: File manager and desktop customization
There are a tonne of different file managers for Linux. Too many to list and describe here. I would suggest trying them out and find the one that suites your needs. Instead of trying to bend the system to your needs find out how it all works and what it will do. You will likely find an even better ...

Re: [Answered] VirtualBox: Error when starting.
I have not had the need for it as of yet but as far as I know usb pass through is completely possible. You can add hardware and discs as needed. I find it more stable than VB and no vboxdrv issues all the time. I can run it a full screen with native resolution which I'm not sure VB will do, Maybe ...

Re: [Answered] VirtualBox: Error when starting.
You would likely be better off using KVM/Qemu instead of Virtual Box. For the most part it's already built into the kernel. You just need a few packages to set it up and control it. It works a lot better than VB and no closed source or error messages to be concerned with.

Re: turn off auto start on start-up "MX Tweak Manu"
It likely got put into the autostart folder somehow. Go to Settings>>Sessions and Startup>>Application Autostart and uncheck if it's on the list. I'm guessing it was open when you shut down and it got saved with a session.
