ok, when i use your 6.4.6 version of cinnamon i can install the wireguard-file with nmcli-commands and in the taskbar i can switch the vpn on and off. so, it depends on which version cinnamon is. on my thinclient-pc im on 5.6.8 ...
next question: how to upgrade?

hi, i'm using my own wireguard-server and within kde, gnome and xfce the wireguard.conf-file are loading without any problems. in cinnamon i can use nmcli-commands but i want to use a graphical system-tools .... and i don't want to install or compile any other software!

I'm using this MX respin with Cinnamon 6.4, I've installed my free version of ProtonVPN and I see that by default it uses WireGuard... it doesn't give me any problems, what server do you use? the website of your VPN server should give you instructions on how to install WireGuard.

thanks for that! everything works except for adding a wireguard.config-file. if you do it via the network manager in linux-mint, everything works as expected, in mx-linux it always complains that it is not a valid cisco-compatible VPN-file .... this happens also in older versions of cinnamon in mx ...
