It seems this laptop does not have a dedicated cmos battery, so nothing I can do there.
F12 got me to a boot options screen. I selected the USB and it booted to the hard drive.

I do not need to install/reinstall now, just planning for when I do. This is an older laptop, I have always been able to set the boot order in the bios and boot from a USB. Now I cannot. No changes to the computer USB boots on a different computer - also tried a different USB USB flashes when ...

My daughter gave me her 2015 Macbook air. I have the same issue as you MX installs but does not boot. I too get the folder icon with the question mark. I am using it with a live USB with persistence - that works fine for my needs with it.

I have the local web server from the package manager installed. I have used it for years. Updates with maria database always fail if I do not stop mariadb before doing the update.
