Re: Change screensaver [Solved]

You actually have to enable and pick a screensaver in xscreensaver's little GUI--I don't think it shows up in xfce4's settings.

Yes, I did that. I started it via the Applications Menu and then MX complained about the xcfe4 daemon still running.
I let it kill the process and start one for ...

Re: Change screensaver [Solved]

Just uninstalled xfce4-screensaver and installed xscreensaver.
The xfce4-screensaver daemon was still running so MX Linux asked to kill it.

xfce4-screensaver is still in the Application Autostart, where I deactivated it - but the remove button is greyed out.
Let's hope that after a reboot I can ...

Re: Just wondering... What do you use Wine for?

I use WinMerge for backups: checking the folders, comparing files and merging/copying them if needed.
I could not find a good single replacement, but I'm trying to switch to FreeFileSync using Meld as a comparison tool.

Change screensaver [Solved]

Hi,
I did not want to hijack any other screensaver thread, so here's mine.

I'd like some variety in my screensaver and searched a bit here and on Google.
xfce4-screensaver is often mentioned as problematic, there are some recommendations to uninstall it and use xscreensaver instead.
When ...

Re: Files in Thunar disappear after synching with FreeFileSync

Thanks a lot for your help!
I did not realize that a simple reload made the files show up again.
So probably changing the "Show file highlight" setting did a reload on the folder and that's why it worked for me.
Changing to folder 1 and then back to folder 2 did not work, I would have assumed that ...

Re: Files in Thunar disappear after synching with FreeFileSync

Great, thanks for the feedback!
What happens now, does this need an xfce bug report?

Files in Thunar disappear after synching with FreeFileSync

Hi,

I encountered the problem that 7z files disappear in Thunar after synching with FreeFileSync.
Steps to reproduce:
two folders (named 1 and 2) which both contain a 7z file (test.7z)
touch file in folder 1 to give it a newer timestamp
paste both folders into left and right pane of ...

I did this when updating, but I don't feel comfortable doing this in the middle of an update.
I would prefer to check in advance, in case I need to get more detailed information on the changes in config files.

Re: How to check if an update changes config?

Thanks, Meld I already use for my personal data backup, work, etc.

So, checking for changes in advance is not that easy then?
