Re: Is "Accept This Answer" button/concept counter-productive [Solved]

Those concerns arise because there are almost always (in my case) multiple posts from different (or even the same) member(s) which come together to solve my problem.

Hi. What I started doing in a recent thread was compile the various solution fragments into my final post by assembling quotes ...

Re: My Screen keeps blanking out! [Solved]

When I say "blanking out" I mean that my monitor displays this message: Display not connected to [port]. Which means that the video feed from the card is being shut off. Power manager: shut off! Screensaver set to "Activate when idle 300 minutes" "Inhibit screensaver for fullscreen applications ...

significance of the yellow* next to synaptic package names?

Hi All, General question here.
I noticed many packages in Synaptic have a yellow star next to their name. The tooltip says "this application is supported by the distribution". I am particularly curious because MXPI doesn't make this distinction in its package directory listings. What exactly is the ...

Re: Recommended way to change CPU governor (MX23) [Solved]

In the end I used BitterTruth 'persistent' solution, modified for my needs below, and then supplemented with indicator-cpufreq for a gui applet to easily change temporarily from the XFCE system tray (suggested by Nokkaelaein and AVLinux .)

I use cpupower to set it at login time.

1. Create a ...

Re: Recommended way to change CPU governor (MX23) [Solved]

@Nokkaelaein was suggesting Cadence but it means using a third party repo, which is always a last resort for me.

No no no, I was not suggesting Cadence :).

Sorry Nokkaelaein (I got caught on the roundabout with that answer ;) ) I got confused and thought you meant that Cadence augmented ...

Re: Recommended way to change CPU governor (MX23) [Solved]

Thanks to you all Nokkaelaein AVLinux BitterTruth for the suggestions. I am still tinkering, trying to find the cleanest solution. I think the main challenge is to have the Governor easy to change (ideally by GUI) and persisted across sessions/reboots.

indicator-cpu is the kind of system tray ...

Recommended way to change CPU governor? (MX23) [Solved]

Hey Everyone, I wanted to know if there was a recommended way to change (and persist) CPU Governor mode. I remember using cpufrequtils in the past. Ideally a GUI utility to be able to change easily when needed. Didn't MX have something like this once in MX Tweak?

Re: Need help creating a self-booting solo frugal install on nvme ssd [Solved]

The easiest: Use live-usb-maker to create a "self booting" drive.
LiveMedia/LiveUSB created with live-usb-maker is like "boot-loader for BIOS and UEFI" + frugal install.
When creating the "LiveSSD" make the ext4 with a label e.g like "Live-Install"
and add "blab=Live-Install" to the boot ...

Re: Need help creating a self-booting solo frugal install on nvme ssd [Solved]

Hi fehlix , thanks for responding. On my attempt using LiveUSB Maker, I encountered an error.
log:

/usr/local/bin/live-usb-maker gui -N --force=usb --force=makefs --label=Live_Install -C off --from=/home/Default/Downloads/Large Files/iso/MX-23.6.1_KDE_x64.iso -t /dev/nvme0n1
