simple answer, try antiX.
specifically for this reason, recently anticapitalista made antiX xfce free of systemd.
wo you will certainly experience a faster system with antiX

I have installed IceWM on Mx 23 .
modified some menus and conky .
any thoughts on this?

Actually I'v installed icewm 3.6.0 on mx 23.3 xfce .
working perfectly . no bug or glitch .
the original problem was the mirrors , which have been fixed using Mx repo manager .
after fixing mirrors I was able to install packages from test repos .
