You have to install the firmware for the facetime camera. Here's a step-by-step

If not already installed, install curl, xzcat and cpio and git:

sudo apt install curl
sudo apt install xzcat
sudo apt install cpio
sudo apt install git

Open a terminal and Clone the git repository with:

git clone ...

I doubt it. I'm running MX23 on a 2009 macbook with a core 2 duo and an ssd with zero problems.

Does you bios 'Boot' section have MX listed?

Insyde crappy bios (at least some of them) have a provision where the efi boot loader must be physically added to the boot list. If you don't see MX in your boot list:
