Using the Xfce display manager and scaling the native 1920x1200 by 1.5 gave 1280x800. The change persisted on reboot so I am a happy camper.
Cheers

j2mcgreg;
Interesting idea. I have a couple of SSDs I swap between one with Linux Mint, and one with (ugg) Windows. Neither of them have the startup problems. So I switched the caddys and cabling with the Linux Mint SSD which would isolate the problems if it was contacts. No difference, MX still ...

Re: startup frequently hangs at black screen and blinking curser
Does the behavior repeat if you boot with the default SysV init?
Not sure how to do that...
At the Grub screen, click on Advanced Options and then choose a standard kernel as the boot choice for that session. If it solves the problem, you can make the switch permanent with the Boot ...

@M270
When you use the QSI utility and click on Copy for Forum at the bottom of the report, the output is automatically configured for use here in the forum. Alternatively, if you just copy / paste the output manually (as you did above), we request that you encase it in code tags. This makes that ...

startup frequently hangs at black screen and blinking curser
Hi, love MX Linux, but am experiencing that it frequently hangs on startup at a black screen with the curser blinking. The only thing that works is multiple forced shutdowns until it finally blows through it and starts. Very frustrating.

Re: xorg.conf in MX23 [Solved]
