Re: Laptop only has display booting with systemd

Hi, that's a good idea but I should have mentioned that I tried that and it didn't work. I'll give the 'init 3' suggestion a try. Thanks.

Re: Laptop only has display booting with systemd

Yeah, understood. However I'm concerned that it pre-emptively puts the blame on cinnamon being installed -- it worked with both cinnamon and xfce before the display started blanking under sysv.

Not at all. It's the xfce official release but with cinnamon installed via apt. Hardly a respin. As I also mentioned I reverted to xfce and that didn't help either. Unsurprisingly ...

Laptop only has display booting with systemd

Hello,

Bit of an odd one here. I recently installed MX23 on my laptop (Latitude 7390) and it worked very well for a few days. Then it started losing the display after the "Waiting for /dev/ to be fully populated" boot message.

For some reason it still boots fine, display and all, under systemd ...

I should have thought of that! Yes, it works. Now to find which add-on is the culprit...

Thanks.

the papirus icon theme takes forever to update. its highly compressed. so you very likely just didn't wait long enough. I mean it takes a loooonnnnnngggggg time.

I do appreciate that, but stuck on 5.8% for over half an hour beats all previous records here for that theme! :)

Re: Can't login in firefox at all -- invalid links

Please ignore the part about not being able to reset the password in Chromium -- somehow it remembered the password although it's not showing in the browser settings :)

However the new password still won't get me in in Firefox -- "The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again."

Can't login in firefox at all -- invalid links

Hi, I just joined the forum. I use MX21.3 and (usually) the latest firefox for browsing.

I couldn't register for this forum using firefox -- no form appeared.

So I signed up using Chromium, which promptly forgot my new password despite offering to save it :)

Now, back in Firefox I can't use the ...

Re: MX-23 beta 1 feedback thread

Hi. I just installed the beta on my old Dell Latitude E6220, with 8GB RAM and ~120GB root partition using btrfs.

The nala upgrade sticks on unpacking papirus-icon-theme (20230601-0.1-mx23+1 over 20230104-2), at 5.3%. The same happens on apt upgrade, apt-get upgrade etc, unsurprisingly.
