I tried the uefi install and i got a black screen saying there were no bootable devices found..Not certain my laptop is uefi compliant....i changed the settings in the bios and nothing happened.It is possible i may have missed a bios setting..i am not familiar with this bios approach.

Out of curiosity, what are you considering as "slow"? Because I don't have any complaints about a 20 to 30+s bootup time on my 2015 MBR-boot machine. Also, as I understand it, there is a systemd command called systemd-analyze that may help analyze the boot process and how much time each step is ...

It is possible that fschk is running..it can be disabled within the mx service manager and turned on again at the users discretion.
