Is there a way from inside Linux to choose the disc to start from ... "Press the ThinkVantage button to interrupt normal startup" and i press and press but I end up in AVLinux. tried three times no

F3 is Playback, F4 Capture, F5 All. Only difference I can see now is that there are two "Master" Faders at the beginning, presuming one for Playback and one for Capture?

ok I've moved on a bit with this problem but I can't say I understand what happened ...
The first three faders in Alsamixer (if I go F3 Playback) are Master, Master Mute and DSP Bypass. Master is on 100 and the next two on 00 and they won't move, for whatever reason.
After these three there's one ...
