Re: Sound quickly fades out and no microphone -- pulse audio
Sorry for the late response. Two steps forward and one step back -- I lost my sound again, even after creating the sound.conf file to drop down to the older intel firmware. Here's the output of my system again -- I did an apt-get upgrade in the last week, but didn't think to look to see if the pulse ...

Re: Sound quickly fades out and no microphone -- pulse audio
Update: sound for speakers/headphones is now working natively in kernel 6.0. I created a sound.conf file for the mic with the first option you suggested, and it works (!), I just need to adjust my volume level manually in pavucontrol panel. Before I mark this solved though, I wanted to understand ...

Re: Sound quickly fades out and no microphone -- pulse audio
Well this is frustrating. I lost the sound again, even after generating the sound.conf that initially worked. So generating a second sound.conf to handle the microphone isn't going to move the needle much since I don't have any output sound. I'll try upgrading to 6.0 (currently in kernel 5.19). And ...

Re: Sound quickly fades out and no microphone -- pulse audio
Thanks again for the suggestions. I'd like to try the 6.0 kernel, but it is not currently listed in my MXPI. Do I need to switch to the sid repository to get access to it? (DIdn't see it in the MX Test Repo either.)

Re: Sound quickly fades out and no microphone -- pulse audio
Thanks for the suggestion -- I created the sound.conf file, and got my speakers and headphones back. You were also correct, I lost my microphone -- the attached image of my alsamixer shows that I don't have the option to adjust my volume levels on the microphone. (Hope I attached it correctly.) Do ...

Sound quickly fades out and no microphone -- pulse audio
I have been struggling with this issue with my sound for some time, and it has made it impossible to listen to any audio/video as well as take Zoom/google meet calls in MX. All sound works as it should in Windows 11.
Whenever I go to listen to a video or play music, I get the sound for about 1-4 ...

Re: suspend not working
No joy putting intel_iommu=off in my boot sequence :-( I'll have to try to see if suspend works from the live USB this weekend. Will keep you posted. And thanks again for the continued help on this. Now if I could only get my microphone to get detected on video calls......post for another time.

Re: suspend not working
Spoke too soon again -- after about 5 minutes of web browsing, my mouse pointer got incredibly slow and unresponsive and I was unable to drop down to a terminal (ctrl-alt-F1) to restart lightdm. Weird....

Re: suspend not working
I stepped away for 3 minutes after doing a pm-suspend, and my laptop actually did go to sleep -- fans stopping running. So looks like problem solved?! However, I'd like to get further details on why turning off error reporting was allowing my laptop to go to sleep?
