Re: Fluxbox Toolbar - default config for mxfb?

That looks quite nice a Fluxbox desktop @ceeslans..so now I may try out Fluxbox again !

Looks very GNOME like and the Conky is quite snazzy as well.

Re: Xorg has been Forked!

Think twice before abandoning Xorg. Wayland breaks everything! from Github

That screed seems to be almost like Chicken Little-esque but does list things that work great under X11 but are either broken or partially working under Wayland. Hopefully in due time all those issues listed would been ...

Re: What seperates a fraken-debain from a respin?

Another sort of FrankenDebian would be mixing even other Debian derivative repos too not just the ones mentioned.

Re: What seperates a fraken-debain from a respin?

A respin (in simple terms) would be taking an official release (XFCE, KDE,fluxbox) and adding a different desktop to it to make it the default desktop.

A FrankenDebian would be taking an official release and adding Debian's testing/sid repos to your apt sources.

Not just that but adding say ...

Re: NetworkManager Wireguard VPN connects but no traffic [Solved]

It's also a good idea to clean out configs from VPN providers you no longer use so that NM won't try using those configs. Good you found the culprit!

@DeepDayze Interesting :exclamation:

I did not know what you mentioned:
Remember there's YT videos that aren't permitted to be viewed from certain countries based on settings the video's owner sets.

With the resulting warning I mentioned in my previous post, it seemed that YT was trying to ...

Re: Is It Just Me, Or Is It YT-DLP ? [Solved]

ADDENDUM:

I now see that for BOTH ClipGrab AND yt-dlp, if I'm using a VPN, I get NOTHING

Actually, it's worse than that:

For ClipGrab, when I have my VPN enabled, it says that either there is no video, or it can't find it.

For yt-dlp, when I have my VPN enabled, I get back something ...

Re: Request for yt-dlp update [Solved]

deb-multimedia repository has v2025.05.22-dmo1

That's a bit of a dicy Repo, it might be OK with pure Debian installs but I think there could be some potential conflicts with MX backports and deb-multimedia. If you're a Debian expert and enable and disable it judiciously it may not work out ...

Re: Wayland [Solved]

Hi,

If I understand correctly the choice of Wayland or X11 will largely depend on what Debian does upstream .........

I think it depends on the Desktop environment. If XFCE devs don't make XFCE fully Wayland-ready (right now it's only at experimental stage) then people running XFCE will ...

Re: Is It Just Me, Or Is It YT-DLP ? [Solved]

That's quite the happy accident and perhaps retry your experiment in a few days to check your hypothesis. Seems YT changes up its algorithms almost every day to befuddle apps like yt-dlp.

I would get the github version every day and maybe throw together a script to put the bits and bobs that make ...
