Configure MX23 on old laptop

I am using hp pavilon dv7 laptop and I must say MX19 Linux Patito Feo version was much quicker. This version is pretty slow on my old laptop.
I think it is doing memory test before loading kernel and GUI. Do you have any tips how to make my MX Linux faster on old laptop?
I like XFCE GUI btw.
