Re: is it better in any way to use MX 19 with uefi/gpt than legacy bios and mbr?
Many new computers are now running MX Linux, as you can see in the multiple topics in the forums. MX Linux works without any issues with GPT under UEFI, and it works and installs automatically. Don't worry any more. MX Live USB Maker will create the live clone of your pc that can be installed on MBR ...

Re: mxlinux and i3 is not a perfect marriage
Personally, I prefer to use lxpolkit (and lxsessions) with wms. That's an old recommendation I received from dolphin_oracle . Sadly though both lxpolkit & lxsessions are getting dependency heavy in many distros. I still like their rudimental look & feel, though. But I'm old. What do I know ...

Re: mxlinux and i3 is not a perfect marriage
Dear pseudo-expert. Add this startup command to i3 config after installing policykit-1-gnome exec --no-startup-id /usr/lib/policykit-1-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 & start your i3 session. Launch mx-tools and select an item from there. Enter password ... Profit Man, I really can't ...

Re: I came back to MX - but alas! Grub won't install?
In the installer (because you don't mention the MX version, I will assume it is the newer installer version), when selecting the partitions, do you select the EFI partition as ESP before proceeding forward? This is for antiX, but the options should be the same. Image-installer-efi See that I choose ...

Re: How-to remaster an ISO Live?
Why is it that booting an MX ISO from a multiboot stick generated with Easy2Boot, Ventoy, or YUMI won't give the same results? Booting worked for me when I used Easy2boot. The thing is that the snapshot needs a writeable media, so when running mx-snapshot, instead of saving the snapshot ...

Re: Pi-hole + Mysterium node
Yes. There doesn't seem to be any systemd hard dependency. I remember reading people using it on devuan+Rpi4, so I assume they didn't need to do much for pihole to work.

Re: question re MBR vs GPT with MX
GPT: GUID Partition Table
MBR: Master Boot Record.
You are mixing things up. You can have MBR with GPT, so you are confusing things here.

Re: Pi-hole + Mysterium node
First obstacle: antiX is not available for arm64 architecture.
You are better off starting with a different distro, like Debian, that do have ISOs, packages and an installer ready for ARM. You can then install or compile the things you need on it.

Re: How-to remaster an ISO Live?
If you want to create an exact ISO based on the changes on the Live system (even on a Virtual Machine), use mx-snapshot. Remaster is for saving all changes to the live media (generally a USB device) without the need for persistence. (The live media needs to be writeable). Know the difference. Choose ...
