We don’t have to create “that many” init scripts as it is right now. No reason to rebase at this time IMO
I would leave MX if we switch to something else than Debian... if people want Devuan I suggest they use Devuan, not for me.

Anyway, to boot your Windows temporarily, you can go to the MX linux live USB boot menu -> Find EFI bootloaders -> Boot your windows if it is detected.

Why not as an AppImage? Download it, make it executable (you can also do this with the file manager), done.
It is also offered on the same download page.
AppImages load, unlike *flatpacks no additional runtimes on the system and are, in my opinion, easier to handle.
