changing repos also worked for me, but it seems like if that issue is still happening a few days later maybe it needs to be looked into?

i was happy to help :toast2: though the av stuff is mostly lost on me, i hadn't really seen enlightenment since switching from bodhi to mx a few years back. looked quite lovely and well put together. thank you for the work you do in creating and sharing it.

cannot confirm this to be an issue with an iso downloaded today and tested in a virtual machine. gparted opens as expected from the menu as well as just by running the command without sudo which then opens the aforementioned gui auth window that does work. i did do a quick sum check just to be sure ...

what makes the version you have seem like the runit one?

i followed that link from your post and seem to have downloaded the sysv iso. i ran it in a vm and got:

dpkg -S $(which init)
sysvinit ...

So after downloading software and then tring to run it basicallly does nothing.

it may help to add some info about this. can you give an example of software or a program that you have downloaded that isn't working? how did you download it and from where? how are you trying to run it?

i've not used an appimage in a while so don't know about the first part, but can you download a newer version from mozilla here? https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/a ... p-release/

affter downloading and extracting that, there is an excutable named firefox that opens the browser.

it has been a while since i've booted mx with kde (in case there are any differences to what i am describing next), but in MX Boot Options do you see a checkbox in front of an item labeled "Enable saving last boot choice"? if so, that may be something to try. i don't recall how it works exactly. it ...

do you see a graphical menu when you boot the installed system? if so, that may have an Advanced Options submenu (as previously mentioned). if you use the arrow key to move down to that entry then hit enter there may be more options. sometimes trying ...

i was able to log in after not doing so for quite some time and navigate around a bit. seemed to work just fine for me. have you tried different browsers or maybe cleared the cookies/cache of the one that is having trouble?
