Re: MX-Linux 21.2.1 install: 5.7 GB minimum root partition required [Solved]
Is this a dual boot computer? If so, does Windows boot in UEFI mode?* If the answer to both questions is yes, do you have a particular reason for booting Linux in BIOS mode?
* If you're not sure of the Windows boot mode, boot the system, open Run (right-click of Start) and run msinfo32 . Line 14 ...

Then clicking on Next, it pops up (MX Linux Installer):
The following drives are, or will be, setup with GPT, but do not have a BIOS-GRUB partition:
nvme0n1
This system may not boot from GPT drives without a BIOS-GRUB partition.
Are you sure you want to continue?
A opted for NO as I do not ...

Hi There!
Is there a way to resize (increase) the ESP partition?
My 2 TB NVMe GPT drive has a 1000 MiB ESP partition (nvme0n1p1, FAT32)
You would not need to increase the ESP (EFI System Partition).
Oh my!... Bingo!... I was able to mix ESP with root in my head... How come ...

Re: Best partition scheme MX Linux
After running MX Linux for a couple of years without clearing cache or temp files/folders, this is the usage I got for the following partitions (in %, rounding off):
root 5%
home 40%
usr 10%
var 33%
tmp, usrlocal, opt and srv 3% each
It may look dumb and stupid, and not precise at all, but for my ...

Re: Live Ventoy USB multiboot stuck at "Loading Hardware Specific Modules" on a Desktop [Solved]
Just browsing back after a good while and saw your (BitJam's and Adrian's) comments about the frugal install.
Will give it a try and let you know about it.

Re: Live Ventoy USB multiboot stuck at "Loading Hardware Specific Modules" on a Desktop [Solved]
You might not want to put such faith in the USB Flash media because by default, most USB Flash drives are designed for BOT, not to be used in a real-time live system. BOT is an acronym for B ulk O nly T ransport. If I were you. I'd be making a backup image of the USB drive quick smart after 6 ...

Re: Live Ventoy USB multiboot stuck at "Loading Hardware Specific Modules" on a Desktop [SOLVED] [Solved]
FYI I just went to ventoy boot menu, entered grub shell but issued no commands at all except for the reboot to get out of it and all came back to normal, as usual. MX Linux with Persistence back to business with no data loss at all!
Issue presumably resolved for now.
Thanks for you all!

Re: Live Ventoy USB multiboot stuck at "Loading Hardware Specific Modules" on a Desktop [Solved]
dolphin_oracle thank you for your feedback. I have already posted at a Ventoy forum and still waiting for any fb from there. I do not want to remaster because, as I have already mentioned, don't want to lose the documents within it (no backups). Also I do not use MX's live-usb-maker tool because it ...
