Re: So sad.. [Solved]

Thank you for your offerings, but the thing is: with the integrated graphics disabled (I knew from the past that might conflict / cripple the system -and- this laptop offers the option in the BIOS) I could easily install MX Linux but the latest updates messed up things so I decided to do a fresh ...

Re: So sad.. [Solved]

My final findings for now: enabling optimus in the bios instead of using the discrete card only makes the system start. The only thing is it cripples the graphics so having a somewhat advanced card seems pretty useless in this case.

Re: So sad.. [Solved]

Not yet, but moving on because I do not always have or want to take the time to keep on trying to get something up and running. In this case it felt a bit worse to me because: on my previous Razer I noticed MX Linux was not able to use the NVidia card (1660ti) as the primary one causing the system ...

So sad.. [Solved]

..being my favorite distribution for a few years now, had to move to Pop!OS to get my former Razer laptop properly running was SO happy noticing my new one (Blade 17 adv w/Gen 12 12800 cpu and RTX 3060 graphics) did run perfectly with the NVidia drivers but.. the latest update messed it up ...

Re: HDMI output failure: no signal found

Well, given the number of suggestions (0) it seems to be a serious problem. So I switched back to Pop!_OS again, supporting the hardware out of the box.

I'll keep my eyes open to see if MX Linux will be able to deal with it in the future!

Re: HDMI output failure: no signal found

The current status: After searching and trying around I ran into this article: https://9to5linux.com/how-to-connect-your-laptop-to-an-external-monitor-on-linux-fix-for-hdmi-no-signal-issue I did: sudo cp -p /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/nvidia-drm-outputclass.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/nvidia-drm ...

Re: Looking For HP All-in-one printer/scanner

HP is very explicit in their documentation that their HP+ printers must be connected to the internet to set up and remain connected in order to function. That's a show stopper for me if that applies to using their printers with linux. Can anyone shed any light on that requirement? Requirements for ...

Re: Looking For HP All-in-one printer/scanner

As far as ink is concerned, never EVER get the off brand ones for the HP, you'll end up with an expensive paperweight. I do have a totally different experience. First of all: inkjet printers are not exactly expensive. I don't know what you pay for one in your country, but I find the equivalent of ...

Re: Looking For HP All-in-one printer/scanner

Well, not sure what is available now but.. I do not like the three color cartridges. As soon as one color is gone you need to replace the complete cartridge and they are not cheap. Using an old Photosmart 5522 myself with separate color cartridges saves a lot, especially using some private label ...
