My issue was similar.
I installed Xscreensaver.
opened the Xscreensaver setting.
Chose Mode Disable Screen Saver.
I've only tested it once without rebooting, but it has worked thus far.

I read where others that had your MOBO had same results as you.

voila, I installed Xscreensaver, then had it change MODE to Disable Screen Saver. Tested for 15 minutes and screen remained on........

I tried. No luck. Rebooted with Power manager disabled. Screen went off. Retried with Power Manager enabled.. The new file has several lines missing that the old file (xfce4-power-manager.xml) had.
