So.. your advice on fixing this is using something other than MX Linux, and that is why you dug up an old thread. How is this helpful exactly?
Plenty of other distros are mentioned in other threads without folks getting into a fanboy twist about it. Not everyone wants, or maybe understands ...

I appreciate this is an old thread now but if anyone else is having issues trying to compile stuff to get this working it does so out of the box with Alt Linux. You`ll just need some patience trying to navigate their site since the various downloads are not that well labelled. I use the `starter ...

Just found this after hours trolling for a fix and it works like a charm. It's also brought me back to MX since I was on a Debian net install. The flashing light doesn't work on the adapter which always used to annoy me anyway but it connects fine. Many thanks.

For anyone who cared to listen I always said the community produced ‘MX 15 KDE Added’ release was one of the best KDE4 distros ever made and I was really pleased to see an official KDE5 version.
