It is my understanding that SMB1 support was removed from Samba a little while ago, apparently in version 4.11. So while MX19 still works with it, MX23 does not. Did you ever get MX23 to actually connect to the SMB1 machine?
I have a similar problem, I use an old XP machine to rip CDs as none of my ...

Re: Sensors not available? [Solved]
Have you run the "sensors-detect" script in the terminal? I've had to do this on every machine I've ever installed Linux on, for some reason only a few sensors are detected on installation.
I like to use Psensor for hardware monitoring, you can set alarms for each sensor if you want to. It doesn't ...

Re: NVIDIA GPU Fans Auto Start ?
I believe Nvidia GPUs aim to run at 80C, while modern CPUs aim for 90.. There doesn't seem to be any harm done at these temperatures, old broken GPU with "bad bumps" notwithstanding!
There are supposedly CLI commands that can work, a quick search brought me to this page:

Have you tried GreenWithEnvy? There is also Tuxclocker but that's not in the repos AFAIK.

Re: MX-19 Repository: The Lutris Thread
Hi, the most recent 5.17 version of Lutris does not install on MX19, it fails with a Python error. Can it be reverted to 5.16? Probably forever since 19 is close to EOL?

Thanks!

Re: Best sound card for Linux
I'm really enjoying my Asus Xonar D2X, they're cheap because there are only Windows drivers for Windows 7/8.1. Of course it works perfectly in Linux, and sounds great. Winner.

Re: mx23 ahs release: auto update kernels
The idea of having to run .1 releases doesn't fill me with glee.. I try to wait until at least .5 before upgrading so any big issues have long since been ironed out. But then I could always just lock the packages where they are.

Re: How often does the NVidia driver gets updated?
If you want newer drivers (and I did because the old 470s are Vulkan 1.2 only so newer versions of DXVK and Proton 8 didn't work, and for the life of me I couldn't get any 525 drivers from the MX19 AHS repo to install) nvidia do have an apt repository which makes installing new drivers quite easy, I ...
