Attempted 2 drive dual boot Windows option visible but not working?

Hello again, against my own initial thoughts, I attempted a two drive dual boot setup. Partly because I liked the idea of giving Mx more power, and partly because I wanted to make sure my usb ports on my old laptop weren't causing the talon issue I was experiencing, before talking to that community ...

Re: After years of experimenting with a secondary Linux laptop I have MX 23.5 configured to do it all

Even without any significant visual impairment I find that some things like the default fish-shell theme is hard to read: dark blue text on a black background just doesn't offer enough contrast to see the letters clearly. It's unfortunate that fish's theme configuration is only web-based; I'm sure ...

Epson Perfection 4490 Office
Epson Perfection 4490 Photo
Sorry about the oversight, it's one of these two, probably the photo model? But they look identical. Tried the Iscan driver pack.

Have you tried NAPS2 on it? https://www.naps2.com/download Thanks for pointing this out, it's definitely a powerful tool, but it still doesn't detect my old epson. The Canon LIDE 400 is Linux friendly and priced around $100.00 here in Canada The high resolution of this is really nice, but it doesn ...

Old scanner with doc-feeder isn't Linux friendly, is the brother ads line worth it? [Solved]

Hi, still trying to transition, discovered that my old scanner with doc-feeder isn't Linux friendly. A little bit of web searching and the general consensus steers me toward the brother line. They seem a bit expensive, but this might be a get what you pay for situation. The most affordable option ...

Re: After years of experimenting with a secondary Linux laptop I have MX 23.5 configured to do it all

Hi, I've been trying to think through the accessibility guide; I got myself into a little bit of a rabbit hole about where the line is between accessibility and ease of use. I'm currently thinking that rather than try to parse that, it might make more sense to approach it as a hybrid guide. For ...

Re: How safe is duel-booting with modern windows if each os has its own drive? [Solved]

Thanks, you're right, my thinking was a little unclear. Basically, in metaphorical terms, I was thinking if they're on separate drives they can't "talk", and if they don't talk, they can't fight. But there can only be one switch at the junction, that controls whether the system goes down the windows ...

Re: How safe is duel-booting with modern windows if each os has its own drive? [Solved]

+1 @DukeComposed Very well said! An interesting side note about Windows .. it cannot always even handle *it's own* bootloader! For YEARS I have built machines that had RAID0 on twin ssd's, then put a hard drive in for an internal backup. Sometime early 2022 MS changed their update methodology and ...

One of our members @FullScale4Me has created a guide on dual booting MX and Windows that can be found here: https://fullscale4me.com/Dual-Boot-MX-L ... -Guide.pdf Thanks for bringing this to my attention. If I go the dual drive route, I'll definitely follow all the steps and make sure I do it right ...
