MX-21.2.1_ahs_x64 boot fails; vmlinuz has invalid signature [Solved]

This problem has been reported in the past and appears to be connected with secure boot. It occurs on two Windows 10 computers but not on a Windows 7 computer. However, it does not occur with MX18 or with a fully upgraded standard MX21, only with the AHS version. The USB drive itself is probably not ...

Re: What makes MX better than Debian?

MX is Debian prêt-à-porter . Exactly. On my primary computer I run debian xfce as a virtual machine. On an older machine I run MX from a USB stick. I don't see much difference. The main thing I want from a linux distribution is easy access to the debian repository. Several years ago debian d ...

[SOLVED] Missing snapshot exclude file in antiX 19.3

Trying to create snapshot leads to

ERROR:Failed to open exclude file "/usr/local/share/excludes/iso-snapshot-exclude.list"

The fix is

sudo touch /usr/local/share/excludes/iso-snapshot-exclude.list

Re: [SOLVED] Sound volume at 100% still low

The only way I was able to get full sound volume from external speakers using antiX 19.3 (live-USB) was to install pulseaudio. This solved the problem, but there are unexpected consequences. After installing pulseaudio and starting it with "pulsaudio --start" ("service start pulseaudio" does not ...

[SOLVED] Setting hardware clock to local time in antiX live USB

There is an option in the MX date&time tool to use local time for the hardware clock, but I can't find an equivalent in antiX. Is there some way to keep an antiX live USB compatible with Windows, without having to manually adjust the time settings whenever I switch?

Re: Speeding up Firefox on a USB Install With Persistence

I think it suffices to choose the persist-root boot option to make Firefox write its cache to memory rather than to the thumb drive. For me, that sufficed to keep Firefox from freezing at 100% cpu on a USB2-only machine.

Re: Confusing error messages from Netflix running in Firefox.

I'm going to summarize what I've gleaned from this thread and from a bit of experimentation, and mark it solved. 1) "invalid password" at login (even though the username and password are quite correct, with caps lock off and password displayed). I have not encountered this again, but will try ...

Re: ssh does not start at boot [Solved]

Running live, try removing the disable=lx entry at the boot menu It works for me (antiX 19 persistent USB), but why? Now I can start the boot process, then walk to my office and log in remotely. I presume that the bootcode is there for a reason so that removing it will have some cost. I tried ...

Re: Confusing error messages from Netflix running in Firefox.

Firefox generates the "Your browser is being managed by your organization" message in response to MX's custom distribution.ini file we provide with Firefox. It means that MX will handle the updates--don't try and follow random guides you'll find out there on the Net on how to manually update it ...

I just manually refresh firefox.
Good idea. Will try this when I next have problems. Normally I avoid refresh since it deletes add-ons, but I'm using not using any add-ons on the MX stick.
