acpi=off
click apply and then reboot. I believe that will do what your after (ie turning off acpi ) and you should be able to run that in both sysvinit and systemd
That ...

MX 23.5 How do I change / disable ACPI settings (LID0) ?
I'm running 23.5 on a Macbook Air and have problems with the system immediately waking from Suspend. Seems that this is a known problem and is due to some issues around the lid sensing in ACPI.
Here's an example, there are plenty more:

[SOLVED] Cannot Suspend or Hibernate - Encrypted Home on MX 23.5 [Solved]
Thanks for the reply above, my SWAP files were actually working, but the problem seems to be related to ACPI /LID0
Although it is shown in the Quick System Info, I did not mention in plain text that I'm using a MacBook Air where 'instant resume from suspend' is not a new problem on Macs running ...

Re: Saving Session Settings via Power Button
According to the Help online. If I untick the Automatically Save Session, I should get asked if I want to save the session when I shutdown / logout via the power button, but that does not happen.

Re: Saving Session Settings via Power Button
OK, I found the settings under 'Session & Startup' but the prompt does not appear on the shutdown / reboot menu although the box is ticked in the logout settings. After checking a couple of times, the applications that I had open are restarting, just no prompt on the shutdown / reboot / logout menu ...

Saving Session Settings via Power Button
I've just installed MX on a different device (MacBook Air 2013), everything seems OK but the tick box to save the session settings on the menu you get when pressing the power button is missing. I've been so used to it being there that I've forgotten how to set it up.

This should shed some light on the problem you are facing. From the Arch Linux site:

-- you might need to set up an administrator's password in order to gain access to the needed controls ...
