@ timkb4cq, tried your suggestion, but with the same result. So the only 6.5 kernel which I can build and use is the 6.5.0-rc7. Strange...

timkb4cq: all other kernels are bootable
you mention messed up grub entry, could be.
another funny thing is when building the kernel it compresses the result as linux.img instead of vmlinuz.img so update-grub does not take it

Hi, I am a bit baffled by the new kernel 6.5. I was running 6.5-rc7 successfully and just used the .config for the 6.5 release. No way, system wont boot 9_9 (see pic) I am not the seasoned kernel hacker and would ask if anybody could point out the changes from 6.5-rc7 to 6.5

as the last line in /etc/sudoers:
%sudo ALL=(ALL:ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/gparted
but it still asks me for the password :confused:

try this
sudo visudo
root ALL=(ALL:ALL)
%sudo ALL=(ALL:ALL) NOPASSWD: ALL

Hi, coming back to the installation problem: I just experienced the same (95%) with a 1 week old Inspiron 16 Plus. Tried the above mentioned ideas to get grub to install, but failed :frown:
Funny thing is that Mint, pcLinuxOS and Zorin all install just fine, but being a long time MX user I would ...
