It worked, thank you BitJam. The utilisation is small - a dozen percent at most even at 90% of memory usage, but I am assuming this is correct.

I am on thinkpad x200 with MX19, 4gb ram, 64 bit.
I did not set up the swap partition at the time of installation. To get a swap partition now, here is what I have done:
in gparted, I created 8mb partition, swap one, right click, swapon.
restarted

The swap partition does not appear to have ...

In its settings, Clipit has key shortcut presets, such as ctrl alt H for history, ctrl alt A for actions, but pressing the keys does not appear to work.

Apart from working, I would want the hotkeys to do the screenshots - of the whole screen or of selected part of the screen.

How to achieve that ...

Checked today to be sure; thinkfan is working. I want to fiddle with the thresholds, though, because even with windows 7, at some point it was possible to have the fan stop for a long time with the temperatures not reaching 60 Celsius. Or I'll just leave it with 3300 rpm and 46C at the hottest ...

It may take a while to see how this onenote works in the midst of a real research or study. I am used to opening a number of instances, something that is said to come with quirks - yet to find out what quirks.
