That is likely because you are in there as regular user and you need to be root for that. "Open root thunar here" :) Indeed. That much terminal I can do! And, @dolphin_oracle, once that content was deleted, all was good again! Thanks! Is there anything in particular that might've caused this ...

you can try removing the contents of /var/cache/apt-xapian-index/index.1 the files should get rebuilt on next launch of synaptic. Believe it or not...at least as far as Thunar goes (I don't trust my very limited command of...commands), in the right-click generated options available for that content ...

Itr may be something temporary cause yours still show 4.18.1 etc when i.e. thunar-data:all 4.18. 3 -1~mx21+1 (Normally it can't find .1 and .2 ) What happens if you: sudo apt update ; sudo apt dist-upgrade -y ?
